How To Make Your Own Herbal Teas to Relieve Your Stress


 
All of us are bombarded on a daily basis with all kinds of things that can get us stressed out and there are times that we simply need to find some way in which we can relieve ourselves of this stress. You can do this with some simple herbs made into teas or tinctures and they will be able to help you relax more and give you a nice break from all the insanity surrounding you. Herbs are also nonaddictive and most of them are delicious and good for you. On top of calming down frayed nerves they also can help your heart, blood and your liver.

If you are looking for a tea that is not only a stress reliever then you might want to go for this delicious lemony tea blend. You will need to combine one teaspoon of all of the following herbs:
  • Lemon balm
  • Lemongrass
  • Lemon verbena
  • Oatstraw
  • Passionflower leaves
  • Rose hips
  • Skullcap leaves
  • Orange peel
Put all of the above herbs in a teapot and fill it with one quart of water that has already been brought to a boil. Stir and put the cover back on the teapot. Let the herbs steep for about 15 minutes. Drink 2 or 3 cups of this to help relieve your stress.

If you need a good nights sleep a good tea for that would be to combine one teaspoon of the following herbs:
  • Catnip leaves
  • Linden blossoms
  • St. John's wort flowers
  • Lemon balm
  • Oatstraw
  • Passionflower leaves
Put these into a teapot and pour boiling water over them, one quarts worth and then steep these herbs for 15 to 20 minutes and then strain. Drink two or three cups of this each day and you should have no trouble sleeping at night.

Another good herbal tea to calm the nerves and one that will help you sleep as well would be to combine one teaspoon each of the following herbs:
  • Red clover blossoms
  • Spearmint leaves
  • Oatstraw
  • Skullcap leaves
  • Violet leaves and flowers
  • Rose petals
Cover the herbs with boiling water and make sure to stir well and then cover with a lid and let the herbs steep for about 15 minutes. You can use this during the day if you are stressed out or take it about an hour before you go to bed.

A good tea that is not only great for calming your nerves but is also good for your heart, blood and liver would be this one where you take 2 teaspoons of dandelion root and put in with one quart of water and let simmer for 20 minutes. After the 20 minutes you will remove it from the heat and then add two teaspoons of each of the following herbs:
  • Hawthorn leaves, flowers and the berries
  • Linden blossoms
  • Oatstraw
  • Red clover blossoms
  • Horsetail leaves
  • Nettle leaves
Make sure to steep for about 10 minutes and then you can drink two or three cups of this each day to help your nerves and keep your heart, liver and blood healthy.

Important Note: Before trying any of these herbal teas it's always a good idea to talk to your doctor about them. This is especially true if you are pregnant, nursing or if you are taking any kind of prescription medications.
