You should talk about all the different issues that you think might come up before they try to get settled in and try to create an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect and try to come to any compromises ahead of time that is going to work for everyone who lives in the home together.

Even though they may be your parents, it's still your home and with as much tact as you can manage to muster up, you do need to establish what your particular house rules are. Each person needs to agree to having their own responsibilities as well as their own limitations within your home. This might mean putting in a small refrigerator and a microwave for times when maybe they just want to be alone and eat in their room with one another. Anything to make them feel like they have their own space.

Your parents are use to having their own furniture and things for years and years, but it's obvious you are not going to be able to let them bring all of their own things with them. However, you might be able to rearrange things where they can add some of their things, especially in their own room. Other things will need to be sold, stored away or given to other relatives.

You should discuss a budget to see if your parents are going to pitch in on the expenses or are they just going to cover their own and you will need to cover everything else. Whatever you do, don't assume anything when it comes to the finances. You definitely need to discuss this before they move in.

If your parents are physically able to help around the house and they show interest in doing so, then let them. This will help them like they are worth something and that they are still useful. This can be a very difficult and emotional time for them and the last thing you want is for them to feel worthless.

It is not surprising that there is an increase in depression in the United States. If we learn to deal differently with the stressful situations we are going to be able to keep ourselves a lot healthier.

Look at the different job related stressors as well as the social stressors of the job. How To Effectively Use Music to Reduce Your Stress Levels!


 
There are all kinds of different ways to try and relax and help reduce the stress in your life. Probably one of the best ways is to listen to music. It is probably one of the best ways for you, your mind and your body to unwind after a day filled with stress. It's also a great way for you to shed off the stress so that you can fall asleep easier. However, not just any music will do, you need to make sure that you pick out the right kind of music or you will be just adding more stress to a mind that is already too tired to handle more stress and some music can be stressful.

When you decide to start using music as one of your stress relievers make sure that you pick out the right kind of music. It is important to calm down your brain and the best way to do that is to pick out music that is calm and tranquil. The worst kind that you can choose is heavy metal and rap. This kind of music does not help to calm in fact it is more of a stimulate and your brain is in need of quiet and gentle stimulation so that it can lower the stress level of your entire body.

Sometimes it is best if you go out and get music that is specially made for relaxation. These would be relaxation soundtracks. There are a lot of stores that carry these kinds of recordings. Bed , Bath & Beyond as well as Target are just two of the many stores that sell these kinds of soundtracks. You can also look for music that is specifically designed for yoga as well. You might also want to go for the ones that contain natural sounds instead of music like ones that contains different nature sounds like the ocean, falling rain, bubbling streams, etc.

You should also be doing deep breathing as well while you are listening to the music and thinking happy thoughts. You need to breathe in and out in a very slow fashion. You should breathe in and out, then count to ten and then breathe in and out. Continue to do this during the entire time or until you fall asleep. This will rid your body of toxins as well as negative thoughts.

The main goal here is to let yourself go and if you drift off to sleep, don't fight it, just let it happen. This is what your body needs to fight the stress.  


How To Make Your Own Herbal Teas to Relieve Your Stress

You can do this with some simple herbs made into teas or tinctures and they will be able to help you relax more and give you a nice break from all the insanity surrounding you. Herbs are also nonaddictive and most of them are delicious and good for you. On top of calming down frayed nerves they also can help your heart, blood and your liver.

If you are looking for a tea that is not only a stress reliever then you might want to go for this delicious lemony tea blend. You will need to combine one teaspoon of all of the following herbs:
  • Lemon balm
  • Lemongrass
  • Lemon verbena
  • Oatstraw
  • Passionflower leaves
  • Rose hips
  • Skullcap leaves
  • Orange peel
Put all of the above herbs in a teapot and fill it with one quart of water that has already been brought to a boil. Stir and put the cover back on the teapot. Let the herbs steep for about 15 minutes. Drink 2 or 3 cups of this to help relieve your stress.

If you need a good nights sleep a good tea for that would be to combine one teaspoon of the following herbs:
  • Catnip leaves
  • Linden blossoms
  • St. John's wort flowers
  • Lemon balm
  • Oatstraw
  • Passionflower leaves
Put these into a teapot and pour boiling water over them, one quarts worth and then steep these herbs for 15 to 20 minutes and then strain. Drink two or three cups of this each day and you should have no trouble sleeping at night.

Another good herbal tea to calm the nerves and one that will help you sleep as well would be to combine one teaspoon each of the following herbs:
  • Red clover blossoms
  • Spearmint leaves
  • Oatstraw
  • Skullcap leaves
  • Violet leaves and flowers
  • Rose petals
Cover the herbs with boiling water and make sure to stir well and then cover with a lid and let the herbs steep for about 15 minutes. You can use this during the day if you are stressed out or take it about an hour before you go to bed.

A good tea that is not only great for calming your nerves but is also good for your heart, blood and liver would be this one where you take 2 teaspoons of dandelion root and put in with one quart of water and let simmer for 20 minutes. After the 20 minutes you will remove it from the heat and then add two teaspoons of each of the following herbs:
  • Hawthorn leaves, flowers and the berries
  • Linden blossoms
  • Oatstraw
  • Red clover blossoms
  • Horsetail leaves
  • Nettle leaves
Make sure to steep for about 10 minutes and then you can drink two or three cups of this each day to help your nerves and keep your heart, liver and blood healthy.

Important Note: Before trying any of these herbal teas it's always a good idea to talk to your doctor about them. This is especially true if you are pregnant, nursing or if you are taking any kind of prescription medications.  


Take Control Of Stress By Making Your Own Stress Management Program!


 
As much as we hate to admit it, stress is simply a part of daily life. Sometimes if we have it in small amounts, it's just enough to get us motivated. However, stress is not always that helpful and can cause a lot of different difficulties in our lives, especially if we don't know how to manage it. Some people who have way too much in their lives may be in the need of implementing a stress management program. If you are one of these people, you will discover that if you create a personal stress management program that you will be able to lower a lot of your stress in your life.

A really important thing that you need to do is to figure out what are the sources that are causing your stress and how that stress is affecting. Now you can make a list of reasons why you think you feel stressed out, whether it's your work, school, family members or other reason. You need to confront the problems that exist will enable you to focus on the resolutions that there might be. You will need to decide if there is a way to fix the problems permanently or if not at least find a way to handle the stress better.

After you have identified your problems you will need to sit down and write about them. It's a good idea to buy yourself a journal that is only for your thoughts about the different things that stress you out. Make sure that this journal is private and only for you. It is no one's business how you feel about the stress in your life, unless it's a therapist. If you can get in the habit of writing down your feelings on a daily basis you will significantly improve your mental and emotional well being.

Try to make sure to include some sort of exercise as part of your stress management program. Even if it's to just move around the house and do a few stretches, some gardening, walks, ride a bike, etc. As long as you include some sort of exercise is going to help relieve some of the tenseness you feel when you are stressed out.

Make sure to always set aside time just for you, even if it's just 30 minutes out of your day, as long as what you are doing during that time is something that makes you feel good and happy. This could be hobby you enjoy, going out for a quick cup of coffee with a friend, a short walk by yourself, meditate, pray, whatever it might be that makes you feel relaxed, then do it. You need to make sure that you schedule this as a regular thing to do on a daily basis and include it in your stress management program. If you don't schedule it, you probably won't do it.

If you are thinking of adding something to your life to help fight the stress, make sure that what it is, is something that is peaceful. You don't want something that is stressful. That doesn't make much sense. Consider things like gardening, painting, creative writing, writing poetry, listen to soothing music, or reading. All of these things can help to lower the levels of your stress. Make time for this in your life as well.
