Jobs are not always the best things for enjoyment. No doubt we enjoy the paycheck when we get it but there are times however; that we can't seem to get any joy out of the job itself. Maybe you are tired of the same old thing day after day or there's too much stress, whatever it might be, you need to find a way to enjoy it more. Unless of course you don't care and want to end up on a new job search. If that's not the case then here are a few thoughts that might help you make your job more enjoyable.

The first thing you might want to try when you feel your job is getting too boring is to take on something new. Try some challenges, ask your boss for a new project you can do or even volunteer to help organize an even that your company might be planning in the future for all of their employees. Just find something that will break up the regular routine of your job.

Make a list of all the things you like about your job and all the things you don't like. Figure out where you can improve and then try to find ways that you can enhance the areas you enjoy even more so that the good things you like are even more enjoyable.

You should try using your break and lunch times to do something you like to do. Do a crossword, read a book you like, if you can play online for a little while or send out a few emails to friends and family members. Do things that will help lift your mood for when you return to work. Just try and do something you like to do each time you take a break.

Why not learn a new skill by asking your boss if there are any training classes that they might be offering that you could get in on. Learning a new piece of software or ask to be allowed to start a new project is going to work wonders on your mood on the job.

If you have extra time on your hands and you find yourself twiddling your fingers, why not ask a fellow employee if they need some help with what they are doing. You'd be surprised how receptive and maybe even thankful someone might be for that generous offer. Sometimes people are afraid to ask for help for one reason or another and this person could have been drowning in work and you would never have known had you not offered to help out.

If your company allows you to listen to music, take advantage of it. Bring in your MP3 player with your favorite music and you won't be bothering anyone with the kind of music that you like. Music is a great way to keep your spirits up and to also improve your production. A happy worker is a productive worker.

If you have enough time on your lunch break it would be a really good idea to leave the job totally and go out and have lunch or take time to do a few errands so you don't have to do them after work. Treat yourself to something special during your lunch break. Doing something that you have planned for prior so that you will have something to look forward to when you are working during the morning part of your shift. Having something to look forward to is always going to help you keep your mood good.

If it is allowable, decorate your office or work area with things that make you smile, things from home that make your area cozier, whatever makes you feel good every time you sit down at your desk to work.  


How to Make a Good List of Employment References


 
If you are one of the many job seekers out there on the job market, you already know how important a cover letter and your resume are. But do you also realize just how important that list of references are? A lot of people when they sit down to set up their cover letter and resume often don't think as seriously about the list of references as they do the other two parts of your introduction to a potential employer.

In fact many people may think that no one ever checks that list of references. However, that is not always the case, in fact today, more employers are beginning to call upon these references in hopes of getting a better idea of whether or not you are worthy of hiring.

There are a lot of different ways in which you can list your references for your resume but probably the best thing to do is to keep all of the information regarding the references as short and to the point as you possibly can. You don't want a potential employer having to read a bunch of details about your references, he should be able to go over it quickly and within a matter of seconds. There should just be the information that he can easily use to contact your references and nothing more.

You should sit down a make a list of all of your past employers, those of course that are not going to shed a shadow on your performance as an employee of course. You should also include any business or professional references that you might have as well. These need to be people who can honestly vouch for your skills and your employment history and record.

You will then need to get in touch with all of these references and let them know that you are on a job search and want to make sure that it is OK for you to use them as a reference. Never list them without getting their approval first. Also, you might want to ask them if they would mind writing you letters of recommendation as well. If they agree to do this then make sure that you give them all the needed information they will need to be able to send in the recommendation.

Make sure that you also verify their contact information making sure you have the right spelling of their name, the right address, right email and most importantly the right phone number in case a potential employer wants to contact them by phone.

Once you have your confirmed list you will need to begin listing them right after the very last employment listing you put on your resume. You should make sure to have at least 3 references and try not to list more than 5. You will need to make sure that your references are single spaced. Even if your entire resume is double spaced, your references should not be double spaced.

You should use a font no bigger than 12 for your references and they should be listed with the full name of the person, the company name, their position, phone number and then email being listed last if there is one available.

If you had requested for letters of reference then it's a good idea to call the person and confirm whether or not they have sent the letter to make sure that it gets to the potential employer on time. You should also make a call to the potential employer to make sure that they did receive the letters of reference.

There is more than likely always going to be some kind of tension on a job due to the varied personalities that your employees all have. They have different interests and lifestyles and consequently are not always going to see eye to eye. As an employer it is your job to try and help your employees to find common ground and get along. It is pretty much essential for the success of your business that people who work for you at least get along during work hours.

You should try and teach all of your employees that they need to learn how to communicate with one another in an effective manner and that they need to do so without causing any kind of conflict at work. Teach them how to talk over their problems with each other by using nice tones and make sure to choose their words wisely without acting as if they are accusing someone of something. Make sure that they understand just how important listening is.

As trivial this may sound, allow your employees to be able to label the office supplies that they use at their desk with their names. A lot of complaints that come from employees is that their stuff from their work area is always disappearing. By doing this, it's going to cut down on the temptation for other employees to walk away with others office supplies.

Make sure to put limits on how loud any employee can have music at their work area. Remember if you allow music, not everyone likes the same music so it's important that the volume of the music be at a level that will not disturb others in the immediate vicinity.

Make sure that you let employees know that they shouldn't all stand around a person's work area having a conversation about something dealing with work or not dealing with work. There could be a possibility that the person they are all huddled around may not care to be involved in the conversation and might rather just be left alone so they can work in peace. Besides this it also means less work is getting done in your office.

Another thing you might want to enforce is that all employees need to eat their lunches in the break room or somewhere else besides at their desk. After all what they are eating may not smell very good to someone else who might be sitting nearby.

It's perfectly OK to allow your employees to decorate their work area with personal items but you also need to make sure that they are limited to how much they decorate and what they decorate it with. Understand that to some people a lot of non-work stuff might be a distraction to them.

Note: It is important to make sure that you pay close attention to how your employees might be responding to one another. If you notice something that might look like a disagreement you may need to intervene and have a meeting with them to see how the situation can be better handled.

Any kind of discrimination on the job is not only intolerable but it is also simply illegal. Not only that, it can lead to a very uncomfortable and even sometimes hostile work environment. This does not only mean for the person that is being discriminated against but for everyone working there. If left unchecked it could cause people to lose their jobs and have to start all over with a new job search. Remember not only do federal laws exist to protect against discrimination your employer also should be responsible for having anti-discrimination policies in place. However; these things can be hard to enforce and it may take employees some effort to fight it.

Even if the discrimination is not directed towards you, if it makes you feel uncomfortable it is your duty not just your right to speak up. A lot of people don't care to hear jokes that deal with prejudice or are off color in some way, but how many of us stand up against them? Very few will say something. You have the right though to let the person know that you feel that his or her jokes are not appropriate and that you'd appreciate it if they would not make such comments anymore.

If you happen to be in a group that is often discriminated against, prepare yourself. This is the best way to battle against it. Keep a positive attitude, be professional at all times and always continue to be a productive employee. Be the exemplary employee, it is truly difficult to refuse someone a raise or a promotion for instance if your employment record is flawless.

If you are the one who feels like is being discriminated against because you may be noticing those with less qualifications moving up the ladder a head of you, take it up with your immediate supervisor. Before you call out discrimination you need to see if maybe it is actually something that you do need to do to improve your performance. But, if there is no reasonable explanation for it, you may be being discriminated against and your questions may be a red flag for your supervisor.

Consider joining or even starting a diversity mentoring and or recruiting program. You can ask other employees that are considered a minority that are in upper level positions to offer advice on how to get farther with your career and then pass that kind of knowledge down to other employees. Also work with your employer on creating strategies to help recruit people who can do the job well but also add a little bit of diversity to the company.

Learn when to fight and when not to fight the battle. If you feel that you tried everything you could to try and fix the problems at work and you still feel discriminated against or you believe that others are being discriminated against despite your efforts, it might be time to simply consider the fact that it's a sign that you just may not be in the right environment. It may be time that you start considering looking for a more positive work environment. Remember, discrimination in the workplace whether it's against you or someone else is not something that you have to endure as an employee.

It's a good idea if you do have an account to go over all of your postings to see if there might be some things that might not look good to an employer. You know how it was being the new guy on the block that first day. You were there once, one of those job seekers that finally landed that elusive job. You know how cold and unfriendly the atmosphere might appear to be when you are new since no one knows you and everyone is busy doing all of their assigned tasks. It can be literally a nerve wrecking ordeal. So put yourself in their shoes and do what you would want others to do to you if you were on the job for the first day.

Go up to the new employee and make sure you introduce yourself right away. Make sure you go to their work area and offer them a warm and friendly handshake. Show them that you are excited about having them be part of your company and make sure that you show sincere interest in anything that your new co-worker has to say.

Another thing you should do is take this person under your wing and make sure and try to introduce them to everyone else that they will be working with. However; make sure that you give them enough time to settle into their new environment before you bombard them with all of this. When you introduce yourself make sure that you would like for them to get settled in and then later you would like to take them around the place so they can meet others that work there. Then after you have done that consider sending everyone in the office a short memo or an interoffice email alerting everyone that you will be introducing them to a new co-worker.

Once you have introduced them to everyone it's a good idea if you take time out to show them around the work area, make sure that they know where everything is, especially the office supply room, the printers, copiers, fax machines. Also make sure to include the break room, restrooms and any exits that are used for emergencies.

It's also a nice idea if you take time out of your schedule and help the new employee get settled in. Make sure that if you have someone that does all of the admin work in the office that you alert them to the fact that the new employee needs for them to come and help them set everything up. If you don't then try offering your help to get the things they need issued to them in order for them to get their work done. Make sure that their computer is set up for them, that the phone is set up for their needs and that they have all the supplies they are going to need. When doing this however, make sure that your boss knows you are helping the new person so that your boss doesn't think you are off somewhere goofing off and not working.

If you discover that the boss has not had time to do an orientation then it would help your new co-worker immensely if you took some time and sat down with them and go over all the different rules of the office with them. This could be general ground rules as well as SOP (standard operating procedures) that are a must for all employees to follow. If you have a manual of SOPs then you should offer it to them for them to go over on their own.

Don't overwhelm your new co-worker make sure to give them some time to digest everything in stages and let them have some alone time. Make sure that you tell them that you are available at any time for any questions that they might have concerning the job. If they are new at some things then take some time out and show them how it's done making sure that you give them time to ask questions along the way.

On the second day check in with them and see how they are doing and let them know how happy you are to see that they made it back for their second day. If they feel welcome they are going to find it easier and easier to work with you and the rest of the employees.

It's not easy being one of the many job seekers out there and the job search is rough, so when you get an interview, it's extremely important that you do all of the right things and do your best to avoid doing things that are not going to make you look good during the interview. Remember in this economy we find ourselves in today an interview is scarce and extremely valuable and you don't want to ruin your opportunity and lose out on a job not because of your lack of skills but because you did something that turned the employer off.

Being called in for that interview means right off that there was something about your cover letter and resume that made you stand out amongst the crowd and something impressed the prospective employer enough that they want to meet you. Of course you are going to be nervous and excited at the same time but remember, don't let this excitement get you into hot water by letting it make you talk too much and slip and give out far more information you need to at this phase of the game.

Remember, even in today's world, first impressions stick. So make sure that you dress conservative and make sure that even the jewelry you wear is simple and does not show anything about your beliefs as a person. Just wear something neutral and simple that doesn't make a statement in any fashion. Avoid religious jewelry, not because it's wrong only because you never know how someone might feel. Although it is your right when on the job to be able to express your beliefs in this manner, during an interview just for your own sake try and avoid it.

Make sure that you bring an extra copies of your resume with you in case you are interviewed by more than one person and they expect you to provide them with them. This is part of showing that you are a prepared person, because after all they could make copies themselves. This also shows them that you are more than willing to share your qualifications with them.

If they ask about your different outside interests and hobbies it's OK to let them know about them but whatever you do, don't make the hobbies and interests appear as if they would interfere with your work and the time you spend at work. Don't make it appear that you will need time off for such things up front, even if they might sometime down the road, don't let them know that at the interview.

No matter how well the interview went or how bad you think it may have gone you should always, and this is stressed, always send the person that interviewed you a thank you letter. Thank them for taking the time and interest in them to interview you and let them know just how hard you will work for them and how committed you will be to their company should they decide to hire you. A follow up letter may be the key that helps them make their final decision and call you in for the job. Many people don't do this and often miss out on a job opportunity.

One big and major rule that cannot be repeated enough is never, ever talk bad about any one of your former employers, it doesn't matter whether it's the honest to God truth you simply do not do this and expect to get the job. Never let them know how badly you were treated. If you quite just say you felt you went as far as you could go with that company and if fired try your best to give a little detail as possible.

This will help to get rid of any blowups in the future but it's going to make you look good at the same time. He'll start seeing you as someone who knows how to take the initiative and that you are looking for a future with the company.

If you are not sure if what you are doing is wrong, make sure that you talk to other employees and ask them what they have noticed and if they might have any suggestions that might help you improve the things that you do. Get the advice from veteran employees that probably have been in the same situation as you.

If you improve your performance and you still can't seem to please the boss no matter how hard you try then as a last resort you may have to turn to your boss's boss and let them know that you don't believe that your boss is giving you a fair shot and that you feel they are being unreasonable. Make sure that you have facts to back this up before doing such a thing.  


How To Understand And Appreciate The Importance and Value of Candlesticks in Forex Trading Strategies!


 
If you are new to Forex trading there are probably a lot of things that seem strange and new to you and candlesticks are probably one of those strange things. What these are, are drawings that will identify the high, the low, the opening and the closing prices of the different currencies over a certain amount of time. If they are to be used effectively the trader needs to understand their meaning of the candlestick shape and the significance of the different patterns that are made by the different sequences of the candlesticks.

The basic shape is a rectangular body, much like a candle with two wicks on the top and one wick on the bottom. The top and bottom represent a currency pair's opening and closing amounts. The very tip of the wick of the candle is the highest price for the specific period of time and the tip of the bottom wick is the lowest period. If the pair happens to close high the candlestick body is going to be green and if it closed low, the candlestick is going to be red.

If you want to try and figure out the candle body, shape and color then you need to start at the highest point of the candle's body. If there is a tall body, this means that the price has moved a lot during the trading period. If the tall body is green then it means there is an uptrend in the market and if red then there is a downtrend in the market. If there is a short candle then this means there has been an unresolved kind of tug of war going on between buyers and sellers.

Looking at the length of the wicks is important too. If you look at the wick at the closing of the period you will want to see if the wick is short or gone. If the candle is green and there is no wick or it's short this means that the pair closed near the high point if the candle is red it means the pair closed at the lowest point of the period. If wicks happen to be long means that the prices ended up away from all of the extremes of that period and does not indicate any kind of trend.

It's sometimes a good thing to try and have a series of candlesticks to look at. This will give you a visual idea of how well the pairs are doing over a period of time. It helps traders see what happened to their pairs during the entire trading period and this can help them decide on what to do the next time that they do their trading. It gives them a support and resistance level as a guideline. For instance some closing prices will bounce between two different price lines and the lower line would be the support and then the upper line would be the resistance the pairs had to the higher prices during the period.

Note: Before even getting into Forex trading make sure that you do plenty of research, get some online training as well as using demo sites to get an idea on how the trading actually works.
