Article Writing Tips - How to Write a Poem About Nature

If you like to write and have been writing articles or blog content for a while, you might be thinking of delving into something a little different. There are a lot of different things you can do to break up the monotony of writing the same way all the time. If you like poetry, maybe trying that out for an example might be refreshing. Some of the prettiest poetry is that which is written about nature and it's beauty.

If you consider writing poetry about nature it's a good idea to read poems about nature written by other poets. This will help to give you some inspiration. But to learn to write poetry you don't want to just limit yourself to nature. Make sure to read a sampling from all the different types of genres that there are. This will give you a more overall rounded understanding of the technique of writing poetry.

You should also sit down and watch some nice nature films. National Geographic is one of the best resources that you can find for this kind of film. If you have cable you can watch their channel or go and see if you can find some nature films to rent from the local video store or even check some out from your local library. The Discovery Channel and even the Travel Channel can be good resources as well.

You can use your own backyard as a resource as well. Take notes of everything that happens in your backyard while you are sitting there. Take notes on the birds, the flowers, the sky, the clouds, even the insects. Use these notes for reference material later.

You should also consider going to a local park or a State or Federal park to get even more in depth information on the nature that is around you. The more you see, hear and smell the better it will be for you when you sit down to write the poetry. Make sure to jot dot everything that inspires you while in a park or forest.

Once you have done your research and have gathered all of your notes together you can start the work on your poem that should be based upon all the experiences you had and the notes that you took during your research. Make sure to write only about the things that really stood out in your mind and then use things like metaphors and/or alliteration.

Once you are done with the draft, read it over and see where it might need to be revised and make the necessary revisions. Then read it over one more time to see if there are still more revisions that need to be done.

Understand that it takes a lot of practice to write good poetry so just keep writing about what you feel and don't stop writing. The more practice you give yourself you will start to notice how each poem is better than the last.
